After our death most of us would like to be remembered with fondness and love. We will all leave a legacy: perhaps a family to be proud of, maybe a professional record of achievement, more often we bequeath to those we care for our possessions and money. Only a few of us will achieve something even more profound, to return to us, personified in the energy, spirit and amazing feats of those still living.

John Whiffen is one such person. His legacy is with each of us, in our humanity in our own efforts to turn lemons into lemonade. John was an engaging and vivacious person in life; he is an inspiration and catalyst in death. Many Golden City members who are beneficiaries of the Trust's fundraising never knew John, but they talk of him as if he was their friend and mentor. People took John to their hearts when he met them; now he still meets them through the work of the Trust and its committed Trustees, Friends of the Trust and beneficiaries.

Your legacy can never replace you, our brother and good friend John, but it has made a massive difference to the lives of others.
